Rev. Barbara A. Heard
Associate Pastor, Pastoral Liaison for Women’s Ministries

“You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last” (John 15:16a NRSV)
Rev. Barbara Ann Heard is first and foremost, a woman who loves God with all her heart, soul, and mind. Next, she is Holly’s mother, and Kayla and Jaden’s grandmother. Within these special relationships lies her greatest claim to fame.
Rev. Heard did both undergraduate and graduate study at Loyola University’s Institute for Pastoral Studies. She is a graduate of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary located in Evanston, Illinois on the campus of Northwestern University. Rev. Heard has been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for twenty-four years
An ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, Rev. Heard serves as the Associate Pastor to Women at Trinity and is blessed with a wide variety of ministry opportunities. She serves as the Pastoral Liaison for the Women’s Ministries. Her ministry also includes counseling, both individuals and couples, pre-marital counseling, teaching for the Center for African Biblical Studies, and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. For eight years, (1999-2006), Rev. Heard was the Co-Chairperson of the women’s Week Committee as well as the Co-Convener of Trinity’s annual Women’s Conference.
Rev. Heard enjoys cooking therefore she loves a variety of foods and appreciates ethnic cuisine. Her favorite recreational activities include jazz and dance concerts, theater, museums, reading books on various topics, writing poetry and fine dining.
Rev. Heard’s ministry is rooted in the passage of scripture which says, From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required (Luke 12:48 NRSV)
